Virgil Abloh’s Off-White label continue to light-up the sneaker industry in 2021, the masters of hype recently revealing a head-spinning Nike Dunk Low ‘The 50’ collection. Now, Off-White are turning their attention to the perennially-underrated Air Jordan 2, Virgil preparing two colourways of the Low version scheduled to arrive later this year.
Celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, the first AJ2 colourway off the ranks looks to be a Chicago Bulls-like white red and grey, the faux-cracked midsoles and Michael Jordan signature on the heel giving the vintage silhouette an authentic tone. Built in a similar aesthetic to the Air Jordan 2 OG White and Varsity Red colourway, the Off-White remix of course features Virgil’s signature zip-ties, Off-White’s Helvetica text stamped on the medial quarter, and co-branded insoles.
Time will tell whether Virgil’s Midas Touch can resurrect the long-forgotten Air Jordan silhouette.
